RentMen: What are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Devin_Chase: Once upon a time, I played pool on the road. Viz., I made (and lost) money gambling on billiard games, primarily nine-ball. That lifestyle proved to be taxing in myriad ways; but even though quite a lot of time has passed since my competitive playing days, I still enjoy the game. I don't play often anymore, but it's a lot more fun now when I do.
Art is a big thing in my life, particularly literature/prose and music. I dabble in writing, but those "efforts" have been willy-nilly and haven't come to much. My reading habits are somewhat better, although I don't consider myself particularly well-read. I can say that there has always been the feeling of immediate connection and concomitant fascination with language, in both formal and evocative respects.
I played instruments growing up, but regrettably I put all of that down in my adolescence. My best friend is musician, and we've been best friends since we were twelve or thirteen years old. I remember going over to his house when we were teenagers, and he would play this stuff and my knee-jerk reaction would be to think, "What in the fuck is this?!" He "taught" me, though not in any overtly didactic sense, how to hear music.
